Le Quesnay is a 17th century farmhouse set within 4 acres of gardens and rolling Norman countryside. The nearest village, St-Clair-sur-Elle provides all the daily needs, having 2 boulangeries, a charcuterie, supermarket, post office, chemist and doctor's surgery, bar and restaurant. St-Lô is only 6 miles away, with a full range of shops, supermarkets, some excellent restaurants and a Saturday market. Le Quesnay is within half an hour's drive of the Normandy landing beaches and the beautiful historic city of Bayeux. Le Mont Saint-Michel, la Suisse Normande and cliff walks in the Cotentin Peninsula are all within easy reach. For the sports minded, there is tennis, cycling, golf, horse riding and kayaking nearby. The area is renowned for its wildlife and its sea and river fishing. There are also activity parks, zoological gardens, many châteaux and historical sites close by. The forest of Cerisy is only 10 minutes away. As a break from driving, there are regular train services from Lison (5 minutes away) to Cherbourg, Bayeux, Paris and Rouen.
The three gîtes have been fully modernised yet retain many original features- oak beams and exposed stone work. They are comfortably furnished and have been newly decorated. The kitchens are fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine etc. (There is a dishwasher in Jennie and Ella) All have CD players, D.V.D. and video players.Ella has French T.V. Outside, each gîte has its own private garden with patio area, table and chairs, and barbecue. There is also a children's play area and a games room with table tennis, darts and table football.
All linen provided - guests should bring their own towels. Electricity included May to September (by meter reading the rest of the year) - Cot, high-chair available - Pets by arrangement - Discount ferry crossings available. (Le Quesnay is only one hour's drive from the ports of Cherbourg and Caen).
